About Us
  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Service calls are based on a flat rate price schedule, a la carte. Any additional same-call services are performed at a reduced rate. Please call for details!
  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our clients have a wide variety of needs and desires. Once we determine what you may hire us for, we will help you make a decision on how you'd like to proceed with the task at hand. For smaller service calls such as a water heater installation, we may be able to give you pricing before we come to your home. For projects that involve planning, we will schedule to meet with you in person and discuss your goals and options. You will then recieve a proposal that details what we will do, materials to be used, placement, and more as necessary. We will coach you on what to expect before, during and after your project and maintain clear communication through the entire process. There is a lot to discover about Solution Based ~ you have only just begun! The best way to interview us is to call, so please do!
  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The lead plumbers on our team have either Journeyman or Master's licenses. They have had a minimum 4 to 5 years of proper training in trade school plus years of on-the-job training and examination before aquiring their Journeyman's licenses. Another year of full-time employment under a Master Plumber and second examination is required for the Masters. Our plumbers well exceed the above listed requirements and combined have been involved in their profession for longer than a lifetime!
  • How did you get started doing this type of work?
Josh's passion for his trade, Stacy's administrative support and their love of people made Solution Based a sure thing. We incorporated after being a succesful sole proprietorship and have been in existence since 2013.
  • What types of customers have you worked with?
Our clients tend to be people who expect quality and integrity from a service provider; as we are proactive, they prefer preventative maintenance over doing the absolute minimum - a common mindset regarding mechanical work.
  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Our conversion from (a failing) septic system to sewer service provided relief to our client and was an enjoyable process for us. After approximately 6 months of meetings, coordination with the DEP, state and local municipality as well as two levels of engineers, we were approved to connect to the public sewer. This home is 300 years old and is situated on a state highway, which was an added challenge. A substantial amount of exterior tie-ins were necessary, as the house was built before indoor plumbing was available. The hands-on portion of this project took place in about 10 days. We were very happy with the outcome of this project and our client was thrilled!
  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for someone licensed, insured (comp too), good reviews, and willing to communicate
  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
For Thumbtack specifically there is a tendency to underbid to attract customers. Providers that are trustworthy will resist this and give as accurate a cost as possible. This is challenging in a format with just text as initial contact. Call, speak to your plumber, and make sure you're comfortable. Low bid offers invariably have a hook in them to get in the door you price may rise quickly.
