About Us
  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We are a competitively priced professional locksmith service. We offer a price match guarantee as well. Feel free to shop around. If you find someone at a cheaper rate, just let us know which locksmith service quoted you that cheaper rate. If they are a licensed locksmith serving the area, we will beat their price GUARANTEED! We take pride in being the best in town, and we understand being the best means having the best price too!
  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
This can vary based on the locksmith service requested. If you are locked out of your house or locked out of your car, we simply ask for an address so we know where to find you, and a phone number in case the locksmith has trouble finding you when he arrives. We consider all lockouts to be an emergency locksmith service, so we head to you immediately. If you are locked out between 10pm and 8am, we ask that you contact us by phone to ensure prompt response. If you need to change your door locks at your home or business, we will typically follow up with additional questions to ensure we understand the scope of your needs. We do this so we can provide both an accurate estimate, and ensure we are performing your service in the most cost effective manner possible. For example: We just had a customer here on Thumbtack request that we change all the locks in her new home. After a few questions, we realized she just needed to rekey locks she already had on the doors. This saved her A LOT of money, as changing her locks would mean purchasing new hardware and having it all installed for her. Please be patient with follow up questions. If you find your project requires some discussion, feel free to give us a call anytime! We are available to you 24/7. :)
  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I worked for a locksmith company full time in NYC for 6 years. Before opening Foxhound Locksmith here in Ringgold, GA in Jan. 2017, I apprenticed in Atlanta, GA for an additional 2 years alongside another top-rated locksmith.
  • How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started working in an entry level position as a locksmith in New York in 2007. When moving to Ringgold, GA, I started working an office job and immediately began missing interacting with others. I truly fell in love with locksmithing when I started apprenticing in Georgia. People in the South are wonderful and kind people. Having the opportunity to help and meet nice people in need is very satisfying work, especially when my focus is my own community. :) This week alone, I have rescued 2 children a 3 pets locked in vehicles. What in the world could possibly be more satisfying than helping others?
  • What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with all types, really. Regular Joes locked out of their house or locked out of their cars. New home owners looking to secure their new home. I've worked at commercial properties as large as Costco and Sam's Club and smaller businesses like convenience stores and gas stations. I assist property management companies and police with evictions. I even get to meet people from all over the country who get locked out of their cars or trucks because I am located just near the i75 and i24 junction.
  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently saved a toddler who was locked in the car. The caller informed me that they called 911 as well, but wanted to ask if I can come as well, just in case I could respond faster than the police. I was able to arrive within 4 minutes of her call, and was able to get her child out of the car within a few seconds. The woman was so happy her child was saved, she instinctively hugged me while yelling "THANK YOU" repeatedly and then reached to get her daughter out. Just as she was finalizing payment, the police arrived to find the situation already taken care of. They told me they were impressed too. Doing what you love to do is one thing. But, when you are part of reuniting a mother with her child, and everyone around you recognizes you for taking part in making it possible... Well, that's a whole new level of purpose. I'll never forget them.
  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
It's important to hire a locksmith you trust. You should avoid large locksmith companies with several employees. This is usually indicative of "helpers" doing the work on the company's behalf. This can mean the person coming to your home is trained by a locksmith, but is not an experienced locksmith themselves. There is no cookie cutter approach to locksmith services. It's precise and meticulous work. Someone who isn't passionate about the trade should not be trusted with your security. When looking for a locksmith to hire, don't just go for the first locksmith service your friend or neighbor recommends. Use search engines such as Google or Yelp to see what several others have to say about a particular locksmith. A common mistake many of my customers make when purchasing a new home is asking me to change all their door locks. I ask follow up questions to ensure that's what they actually need, but another locksmith may not be so willing to save you money. If you purchased a new home, and want to ensure no one else can access your new home with an old key, you want to order a "rekey" of all your locks. That means, you keep your existing locks, but the locksmith will rekey your lock to only accept a new set of keys he gives you. A rekey is only a fraction of the cost of changing door locks. We believe honesty, integrity and quality work are the three most important factors when choosing a locksmith. That's why these three factors are at the foundation of our principles.
  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Be descriptive about your needs and then ask a locksmith if they can help. Don't be afraid to tell us a story. For example, as specified above, you don't want to call a locksmith and tell him, "I want to have all my locks changed". Approach the conversation by saying, "I purchased a new home and I want to make sure no one else can use an old key to get in the house". With a descriptive and conversational approach, you leave it to the locksmith to describe how we approach your needs. And remember, there is no such thing as a "dumb question". You should always expect to be treated with respect and integrity. Any locksmith who can't do that for you should not be trusted to secure your home or business.
