About Us
  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Locksmithing is a specialty trade for a reason. It will probably cost more than a handyman calling a Locksmith, but you will have the peace of mind hiring expert. It takes a large investment for a cargo van, specialty tools, advertising, insurance, licensing, etc. All trips to home or business will have a service call fee, typically $60-80 (depending on your location).
  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I introduce myself to the customer and provide additional means of contact info. I request the urgency, deadline, and availability**. I review the request and repeat to clarify what is to be done. Photos. Photos. Photos. They speak 1000 words, and often save time for both me, and the customer. Videos are great, too, especially with suspected repair of any moving parts (lock not latching, key spinning in cylinder, etc.) If applicable, I try and provide at least 2 options, to include pros and cons of each, so the customer does not feel pressured into paying for something that they do not need. Upon confirmation, I update the customer if parts are ordered/obtained, as well as my ETA on day of. *Lockouts : Have ID or proof available **Remote services and rekeys: Have ID / Deed / Lease available.
  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a paramedic in the Air Force and majored in Biology @ UAB. I genuinely care about the concerns for my customers as I did with my patients. Knowing protocols and how things work, whether it be biological, or mechanical, ensure a foundational and competent approach on solving the problem at hand.
  • How did you get started doing this type of work?
Previous medic in the Air Force, where I promptly responded to emergency situations and provided care to patients. After 7 years, I attended UAB in pursuit of a degree in genetic counseling. During summer break I took on a Locksmith apprenticeship. It peaked my interest so much that I decided to continue my progression as a locksmith. Years later, I took the plunge to become independent and form Modern Locksmiths LLC.
  • What types of customers have you worked with?
      Locksmiths needing a mobile locksmith
  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
10 seconds. My customer was pleased to get into their home 25 minutes after calling me and after 10 seconds to unlock their door after they had locked themselves out.
  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Photos are very helpful. Also, be clear and consider about the work you’d like done, and if unsure and you need advice, trust the professional. I like to give customers multiple options, when possible, so they don’t feel pressured into paying for more labor or parts than what is needed.
