  • How did you get started doing this type of work?
I actually got started in electrical work by accident back in 2008. At the time, I was looking for a steady job to provide for my family, and a friend offered me a position at his contracting company. What started as just a job quickly turned into a passion for electrical work. Over the years, I gained hands-on experience, worked my way up, and eventually became a licensed electrical contractor. Now, with Palmatier Electric, I get to help homeowners and businesses with high-quality, reliable electrical services—including panel upgrades, EV charger installations, and commercial electrical work. More than 15 years later, I still love what I do—solving electrical challenges and helping customers power their homes and businesses safely.
  • What types of customers have you worked with?
At Palmatier Electric, we’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide range of customers, including: 🏠 Homeowners – From simple outlet replacements and lighting upgrades to full home rewiring and panel upgrades, we help homeowners keep their electrical systems safe and up to code. 🚗 EV Owners – We specialize in Tesla Wall Connector installations and other EV charging solutions, making home charging safe, efficient, and hassle-free. 🏢 Commercial Clients – We work with businesses, retail shops, and offices on electrical installations, maintenance, and upgrades to keep their operations running smoothly. Some of our commercial clients include businesses like Boothwyn Pharmacy and Mom-Pops Popsicle Factory. ⚡ General Contractors & Builders – We collaborate with contractors on new construction, remodels, and tenant improvements, ensuring high-quality electrical installations. 🏭 Industrial & Manufacturing Facilities – We assist industrial customers with equipment wiring, power distribution, and facility upgrades. No matter the customer, we focus on quality workmanship, safety, and reliable service. If you’re looking for a skilled electrician, we’re here to help!
  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
One project I really enjoyed was a Christmas lighting installation where we put a large illuminated star on top of a 40-foot tree. The homeowner wanted a beautiful holiday display, but the challenge was figuring out how to safely mount and power the star. To get it done: ✔️ We ran underground power to the tree to ensure a clean, safe electrical setup. ✔️ We used a boom lift to carefully install the star at the very top. ✔️ The job took an entire day, but the end result was incredible—the star lit up the whole yard and was visible from far away! It was a fun and rewarding project, and the homeowner was thrilled with the outcome. We love taking on unique electrical jobs like this that require creative solutions!
  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Hiring the right electrician is important for safety, quality, and long-term reliability. Here’s what I recommend: 🔹 Check Licensing & Insurance – Always hire a licensed and insured electrician to ensure the work meets safety codes and regulations. 🔹 Look for Experience in Your Type of Project – Whether it’s a panel upgrade, EV charger installation, or rewiring, make sure the electrician has proven experience with similar jobs. 🔹 Read Reviews & Ask for References – A reputable electrician will have positive customer reviews and be willing to provide references. 🔹 Get a Clear Estimate – Look for transparent, flat-rate pricing so you know what to expect—beware of vague quotes or unexpected add-ons. 🔹 Ask About Warranty & Workmanship – A professional should stand by their work. At Palmatier Electric, we offer a 5-year workmanship warranty for peace of mind. 🔹 Choose Someone Who Communicates Well – Electrical work is complex, so your electrician should be able to explain the process, answer questions, and set clear expectations. By following these steps, you’ll ensure you hire a qualified, trustworthy electrician who will get the job done right the first time!
  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Before hiring an electrician, it helps to have a clear idea of what you need. Here are some key questions to consider before reaching out: 1️⃣ What’s the scope of the project? – Are you looking for a small repair, a new installation, or a full electrical upgrade? 2️⃣ What’s your budget? – Having a general idea of your budget helps ensure you get the best solution for your needs. 3️⃣ What specific problems are you experiencing? – If it’s a repair, be ready to describe issues like flickering lights, tripped breakers, or power outages. 4️⃣ Do you need any special electrical features? – If you’re upgrading, consider whether you need smart home integration, surge protection, EV chargers, or energy-efficient lighting. 5️⃣ What’s your timeline? – Do you need the work done ASAP or are you planning ahead for a remodel or addition? 6️⃣ Are there any access or scheduling restrictions? – If the job is at a business or rental property, think about access and whether work needs to be done at specific times. 7️⃣ Do you need permits or code compliance? – Some electrical projects require permits—a licensed electrician can help with this. Thinking through these questions before reaching out will help you get faster, more accurate quotes and ensure the project runs smoothly from start to finish!
